Frost “Haiku”

diamond crisp

the grass is all corsets

and stays

linen and crinoline

starched by stars

standing to attention

each blade on parade

shaving the dew

into icing sugar

walking on cornflakes

barefoot with toes

the Milky Way watches

each sparkle packet

glistens tears of joy

willingly

not a single footprint

has yet broken

the silent carpet

the centuries serene

watch as the robin

whispers to dawn

pink panther sun

bathes resplendent

the whiskers

the six o’clock shadow

stark and brilliant

as the world yawns
