The Fish Rots from the Head: The Crisis in Our Boardrooms

“As a Chinese proverb says ‘The fish rots from the head’ and so it is with businesses and other organisations – the buck starts and stops in the boardroom. This third edition of Bob Garratt’s bestselling book that highlights the importance of effective corporate governance has been extensively updated following the corporate scandals of the early 2000s – Enron, WorldCom, Tyco – and the abysmal boardroom standards that the recent credit crunch and ensuing global financial crisis brought to light.

This new edition builds on the Learning Board model developed by the author and now widely used internationally by corporations and public sector organisations such as the NHS. The result is a thought-provoking and highly practical book that will be invaluable to all those with responsibility for corporate governance – and also those who subject them to scrutiny.”

With the bring your own booze scandal at Number 10 hitting the headlines, it is obvious that there are many people blessed with a huge sense of entitlement.  It is one rule for the plebs and quite another for US, gathered around the lofty heights of Mount Olympus.

Because we are Gods, we can go around doing whatever we like…

Boris is saying sod you, sod the restrictions let us party…you lot can remain locked up and dying.

I suspect that this mentality is very pervasive…

I attended a workshop sponsored by Imperial Innovations at which Bob Garratt spoke…twenty years ago.

Not a lot has changed methinks…, one rule for US and quite another for THEM the plebs…bless…

At worst we will let someone have some gardening leave and then welcome them back into a fold…

Plus ça change plus ça reste la même chose…
