Tacit Assumptions

I’ll make an assumption that people tend to assume a whole bunch of stuff which just is not accurate.

What do you think of my assumption, is it valid, is it accurate, is it presumptuous?

This morning the lady at the place where we were registering for Breton classes heard where the wife hailed from and said that one can fly direct from Brest to there. Implicit in this is a tacit assumption that she may indeed wish to not only ‘phone home as per ET but go “home” too.  Now I am assuming that she, the Breton lady, is fond or at least attached to family and that she was perhaps projecting this sense of familial devoir. Alternatively, she might just have been making conversation.

I’ll make a statement or two.

In the last year I have had only one “social” SMS message to our shared ‘phone.

In the last five months I have had two “social” email exchanges comprising one email each way.

I have had no “social” telephone conversation in the last eight months, not one single ‘phone call.

I cannot remember the last time I spoke with anyone “socially” on the telephone, it could be over five years or more.

I have had no Skype, Zoom or whatever exchange, either, during this eight months’ time frame.

I have not met anyone {other than the wife} face-to-face for “social” purposes in over a year.

I have had only one such meeting in the last 18 months.

I’ll make a tacit assumption that many of you will find this hard to believe and even imagine that I am making this up for dramatic purposes.

Do you think that I am telling the truth? Is it even possible in this day and age?

I’ll make another statement I have not spoken on the telephone or had any face-to-face meetings with any of my former colleagues for over 12 years. If they claim to have spoken to me and hence perhaps for me, they are lying.

What do you assume from all of the above?

What are your tacit assumptions?

Notions of Reality

What do you reckon are your notions of reality the same as mine?

If you look at the post previous, you will encounter what might be termed the foundation blocks of my notion of reality. I’ll wager that it differs from the vast majority of human beings on the {this} planet. This is simply because they believe in the collective view, the socially conditioned and therefore quasi-acceptable norm.

I have stopped the world, gotten off the merry-go-round so to speak. I am not so dizzy anymore.

To see me walking down the street I look like any other mid-fifties geezer, a bit beaten up like an old car and maybe more meaty than most. I can talk to you within the context of your collective view, about the weather, the rugby, coronavirus and the times. I could even do some physics or chemistry.

I can join you temporarily in the madness of the dream.

If you assumed that I thought like you, perceived the world as you do, you would be foisting your “world lens” in your mind onto my abilities to perceive and assimilate what is transpiring.

Fundamentally there would be {probably} a massive assumption gap, between what you assumed was going on and what was. You would not believe me even if I told you this.

We could debate who is the craziest, me or you. It would possibly be more important to you that you want to win this debate, I might even let you think that you have won. I could acquiesce to the infallibility of your Spock like logic.

Because I do not care if you deem me crazy or whacko.

If someone removed one of the foundation blocks of your notions of reality, it is possible that you would become anxious and bewildered. If they took away another, your whole house of reality could come tumbling down and you may metaphorically {or in reality} crap your pants. You might imagine you were having a bad trip.

I can, should I so deem, be ultra-sensible and act like a high technology entrepreneur, I might even shave and put on a suit.

What do you reckon are we on the same page, in the same book or even the same library?

Assumptions and Collective Wisdom

People can be very certain that they know what they are dealing with, make vast assumptions and as a consequence mess things up very badly. Sometimes the mess they create is irreparable and very widespread.

People very rarely look under the hood so to speak.

Today I am missing whitey a little. Whitey was my Peugeot 208 GTi with 200bhp.

The roads here this morning were full of out of towners driving new and expensive cars faster than the speed limit. This is where whitey would have been fun. If someone was trying to overtake me. I could simply put my foot down. Whitey which looks pretty much like any 208 had a lot under the bonnet and could do 0-60mph in around 6 seconds. It had a top speed of 147mph. People with more expensive flash cars often got a surprise.

A car is a dreaming symbol for state of awareness.

Largely thanks to one martial arts class I attended I am pretty open minded about some of the things a highly trained being can do, things which seem to question the laws of physics. It is dangerous and on occasion very painful to underestimate.

Let’s do a little thought experiment.

Imagine you are monitoring this blog because you seek to control whatever it is I am saying and have a strategy for response should anyone else question you pertaining to my content. Your motive is self-protection, control and to stymie anything that I might attempt. I must be controlled and any damage that I might threaten must be limited and prevented. Even though I am “off the reservation” I must not be allowed to harm your business.

  1. Is this a good motivation for monitoring me?
  2. Is it karmically sound to try to control a non-returner?
  3. Is it justifiable to protect your position and power?
  4. What exactly are you protecting them from?
  5. Am I really a threat or are you a paranoid control-freak?
  6. Am I a part of a truly massive mess which you co-created?
  7. If I genuinely am a non-returner, do you imagine that my mind is anything like yours?
  8. Are you in fact making your mess a whole lot worse?
  9. Could you stop yourself from monitoring or is it too late now?
